What are our services like?

Holy Communion from the BCP Book - The BCP (or Book of Common Prayer) is the oldest of the prayer book in use. It was written in 1662 and uses 'traditional' language such as 'thee' and 'thou'. It is probably the most difficult of our services to follow if you are new but many people like the poetry in the old language once they get used to it. The 8am Sunday service doesn't have any hymns but does have a short sermon. The Thursday service has hymns from the Ancient & Modern book (accompanied on the organ) as well as the sermon.

Holy Communion from the BCW Book - The BCW (or Book of Common Worship) uses much more modern language that the BCP. The 9.30 Sunday service has three hymns accompanied on the organ from one of 'Hymns Ancient & Modern', 'Songs & Hymns of Fellowship' or our own hymn/song collection. There is a sermon, two bible readings (one from a Gospel) and intercessions (prayers) led by a member of the congregation. The service lasts between an hour and an hour & a quarter.

Welcome to Morning PraiseMorning Praise - follows our own service sheet and is our most informal service. It is very child friendly, during term time the first part of the service is all-age and then we split into age groups, 3-4 year-olds are invited to go to 'Bible Bunch', 5-11 year-olds to go to 'KFC', 12-14 year-olds go to 'Impact', everyone else stays in the hall. There is a playmat at the back of the hall for the younger children. Music is led by our Music Group (guitars, keyboard, etc.). Read our Morning Praise Newsletter.

Evening Prayer from the BCW Book - Like our BCW Holy Communion service this service has a sermon, readings and three hymns (accompanied on the organ). It also includes sung psalms and canticles.
